I'm not what you'd call a *family* photographer. But every now and then, friends ask me to take their family portraits. And who can say no to friends? I admit I had a great time shooting this group. It was cold, and the light was flat, but we perservered.
Ashlee and Kayla wanted to do a crazy makeup shoot, and I needed to test out the new Sony A7ii, so we got together to experiment. I turned my family room into a studio and we started shooting.

A while back, I had the opportunity to photograph three beautiful women in a collaboration project with a hair stylist and a makeup artist. We didn't move as quickly as planned, and Kayla ended up with only a few minutes of camera time. Since then, we've tried to get together to do another shoot, but weather and schedules always seemed to get in the way. This weekend, we finally had a chance to shoot.
This one is another collaboration with Krystal of August Hair Artistry. She brought in Dallas and her awesome airbrush makeup skills, and they enlisted the help of Becca to model for us. Becca was one week away from a competition, so she was completely ripped.
Syndee and I were finally able to get together to shoot a few frames in her studio. As always, she was awesome to work with. She's still working on her website, but once it's finished, I'll post a link. She has magic hands. I highly recommend booking a massage with her.
Last Thursday, I got a call from Kristi. She needed an updated head shot with specific criteria for an upcoming book, and she needed it within 24 hours. So we did an early morning shoot on Friday.Any day that starts with photography is a good one.
Family and friends are great--if occasionally unwilling--models to use when trying out new techniques. As an added bonus, you'll have photos to add to the family album.
