Ever since I started posting photos to Flickr, I’ve used it as a way to review the previous year. Reviewing the Archive area of my Flickr account is a great way to jog the memory when writing these Year in Review posts. Even if you don’t blog, it’s fun to run back through the memories of the year. Of course, not everything is on Flickr, so I generally run through my Evernote journal to fill in the blanks.
While researching for this post, I noticed that I didn’t upload many photos to Flickr this year. Part of that is because a lot of them get posted to Facebook instead, and part is because I just didn’t take as many post-worthy photos this year. In a previous post, I mentioned that my iPhone has become my most-used camera. It’s great because it’s always with me, but many times I would’ve taken better quality photos if I’d used a real camera.
January
I surprised my parents with a 2-week trip to Montana. I was craving snow, and Montana didn’t disappoint.
February
I managed to squeeze in a couple of photo walks, and acquired a new family member.
March
Nobody told me the dog would grow…
April
Diego continued to grow, and we finally moved out of the condo and into a house. With a back yard. Diego was thrilled.
May
In May, both parents came to visit, I took a work trip to Nashville, and the dog kept growing.
June
Good friends from Montana came to visit in June. We shot some senior photos, and I had a birthday. (And the dog kept growing.)
July
Diego started making friends at the dog park, I attended my 20-year high school reunion, drove around shooting photos with Dad, and bought a truck when I returned to Portland.
August
In August, I flew down to Scottsdale for a site visit, got new ink, folfed, shot the blue moon, went on a few hikes, and started working with a new model.
September
September was an awesome month. The dog went to the river for the first time, we celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday, and I attended the 2013 Evernote Conference.
October
The cat finally started letting her guard down, I flew to Scottsdale again, Emmie arrives, Lilly starts coming over on a regular basis, Elana and I hung out at Sokol Blosser, and Diego meets Emmie for the first time.
November
The dog hit 60lbs in November, I flew to Vegas for a work trip, the Adonit Jot Script arrives, I did some head shots for a friend, and I get crazy with Post-It Notes (again.)
December
Dad came to visit, Snopocalypse 2013 #1 hit Portland, Multnomah Falls froze, I picked up some Hue lights (they’re awesome,) dog and cat get friendlier, shot some Christmas photos for Ava, it was actually chilly in Portland, I tasted one of the best burgers I’ve ever had at Slow Bar, Christmas happened, the cat got a clean bill of health (in spite of cancer and heart disease,) and Diego saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
QUICK NOTE: There were originally a TON of photos that went along with this post. Unfortunately, most of them were lost when I moved from WordPress to Squarespace. I replaced one for each month, but haven’t had the time to re-add all the rest.
