The Red Jacket

Sabrina and I are getting pretty good at the quick impromptu shoots. There was a red leather jacket that we knew would look amazing on her, so we had to squeeze in a shoot the other day. No grand location--just a cool brick building downtown. We work well together, and I can't wait to see... Continue Reading →

Down by the river

I had the opportunity to work with a new model earlier this week. It’s always a little nerve-wracking to work with a new collaborative model. It’s not like hiring someone for a commercial shoot where the outcomes are clearly identified prior to showing up. It’s more of a, “show up and see if we have... Continue Reading →

First Camping Trip of 2025

We hit 70º last Wednesday, so I decided to throw the dog and the cameras in the truck and run up to Willow Creek for the night. 100% worth it. The sunsets have been lacking lately, so it was a gamble. It paid off, though. There’s nothing better than sitting by the camp fire with... Continue Reading →

Adapting to Water Supply Changes: My Experience with Hauling Water

The water situation at my house is unique due to well usage restrictions and the recent closure of the water delivery company. I now haul water using a 350-gallon tank on a trailer. This opens up options for gardening but presents challenges in winter. I aim to collect rainwater and supplement with city water. A video of my first water hauling trip is on YouTube.

Catching Up

I have some catching up to do. This was the first summer in awhile that ended without me wishing I had done more. It was full of friends and family and adventures. Fall brought more of the same, and a new roomie. I keep telling myself I’m going to do more short posts instead of... Continue Reading →

Adventure Friends

I have a pretty small and diverse selection of great friends. It's true what they say--as you get older, you start to value quality over quantity. Lily has become one of the best. We've discovered that we adventure similarly. We're perfectly fine with stopping every ten minutes to take photos of flowers, or a stunning... Continue Reading →

Impromptu shoot with Lily

We were just sitting in the office and decided the light was good enough for a shoot. I miss shoots like this. No planning or preparation--just grab the camera and try to avoid traffic. I'm hoping we can do more this winter.

Sunset Test Shoot with Lily

Lily and I have been talking about shooting for half a year. We finally found the time (and weather!) to squeeze in a quick test shoot. She’s an amazing photographer herself, so she was basically reading my mind while we wandered around this spot on a dirt road in Central Montana. We already have plans... Continue Reading →
