Steve and I had the opportunity to get some drone footage inside the Cascade County Courthouse this week. Flying inside is never quite as easy as flying outside, but the fact that this is a 115-year-old building on the National Register of Historic Places made it even more challenging. We weren't as worried about damaging... Continue Reading →
Cascade County Courthouse
When I first moved back to Montana, I reconnected with an old friend from high school. He's a photographer, and he was working on documenting the Cascade County Courthouse roof restoration project for fun. He invited me to shoot it with him. If you happened to drive by the courthouse when the roof was going... Continue Reading →
New Courthouse Photos
The scaffolding is off the dome, and the light was outstanding tonight. New photos at the bottom of the project page.
Buying the daniel.photo domain name
When the .photo TLD was released, I really, really wanted to grab daniel.photo for myself. I jumped online the day .photo came out, and tried to buy it. Of course, a domain hoarder had already purchased it. I emailed them (Uniregistry/Domain Name Sales) to see what kind of price they were looking for...
Steve Wolff – Signature MT Magazine
Remember My buddy Steve from the courthouse aerial footage? He’s back again for the Signature MT Winter 2018 edition. Signature Montana is a quarterly magazine for Montanans, by Montanans. Landing a cover is awesome, but check out the article inside featuring a collection of Steve’s photos. Especially the old combine silhouetted against an impressive aurora... Continue Reading →
New Courthouse Photos
Had the opportunity to fly the courthouse today. Beautiful blue skies and a shiny copper dome. New photos on the courthouse project page. Shot a few seconds of video while I was up there, too. Playing around with the Point of Interest flight option on the Mavic.
2017 in Photos
I love data. And photographic data is the best kind. The Lightroom Dashboard gives photographers an awesome look into their Lightroom catalogs. So every year, I take a look at what I did the year before.
Kanchan and Kayla
Another trip to Portland means another shoot with my favorite models. Ashlee couldn't make it this time, so Kanchan, Kayla, and I headed out in search of snow. We found a little up at Stub.
The Scenic Route
I took the scenic route back from lunch today. The road ran south of the Missouri between Great Falls and Ulm, and was well worth the extra time getting home.
Courthouse Restoration
I had the opportunity to take the Mavic up to capture some of the roof restoration project at the Cascade County Courthouse.
Elago W3 Stand for Apple Watch
I haven't reviewed anything lately, but UPS delivered something today that is worth mentioning. I've had a Nomad watch stand almost since I bought my Series 0 Apple Watch. It's a great stand. It looks classy, and it's well built. But when I saw this Elago stand on Amazon the other day, I had to have it.
Kerri, Shawna, and the kids
I'm not what you'd call a *family* photographer. But every now and then, friends ask me to take their family portraits. And who can say no to friends? I admit I had a great time shooting this group. It was cold, and the light was flat, but we perservered.
