Metal Portraits with Mya and Kaylee

I've been trying to come up with a metal-themed print for the wall of my buddy's office building. I shot trains, random abstract metal, and anything else I could think of, but none of them really impressed me. Then I realized it needed to be a portrait. Luckily, I have friends with kids who thought... Continue Reading →

Milky Way

I’ve always been in awe of Milky Way photos, but have never really attempted one myself. Now that I’m out in Montana, and light pollution is easier to get away from, I figured I’d give it a shot. I have a long way to go, but I can definitely see how astrophotography is addicting. I... Continue Reading →

Watching Water

The combination of earlier snow melt and recent rain storms have pushed local rivers over their banks. From what I've read today, it looks like the Missouri river has peaked at 14.5 feet, and is expected to start receding soon. The Sun River is also starting to slowly recede. Several fishing access sites will remain closed until the areas can be cleaned up and deemed safe.

Malala

Back in 2011, I shot Malala's senior photos: This week I had the opportunity to get her in front of my camera again. Hopefully, we'll find time to do more shoots when I'm in Portland.

Kayla and Coffee

I never have quite as much time as I'd like when I visit Portland. So instead of big shoots that require driving and setup and all that, we opted for something simple this time. Ava Roasteria has a great location in Progress Ridge next to a large pond. There are outdoor tables on the west... Continue Reading →

Buying the daniel.photo domain name

When the .photo TLD was released, I really, really wanted to grab daniel.photo for myself. I jumped online the day .photo came out, and tried to buy it. Of course, a domain hoarder had already purchased it. I emailed them (Uniregistry/Domain Name Sales) to see what kind of price they were looking for...

New Courthouse Photos

Had the opportunity to fly the courthouse today. Beautiful blue skies and a shiny copper dome. New photos on the courthouse project page. Shot a few seconds of video while I was up there, too. Playing around with the Point of Interest flight option on the Mavic.

Kanchan and Kayla

Another trip to Portland means another shoot with my favorite models. Ashlee couldn't make it this time, so Kanchan, Kayla, and I headed out in search of snow. We found a little up at Stub.

The Scenic Route

I took the scenic route back from lunch today. The road ran south of the Missouri between Great Falls and Ulm, and was well worth the extra time getting home.
