I don’t write like I used to. There, I said it.
Over the years, I’ve gone from home-grown blog-type sites to almost every platform available (pour one out for Posterous).
For the past few years, I’ve been on WordPress.com, and it’s fine. It’s relatively inexpensive and has been around forever, so plenty of writing tools integrate with it. I don’t like writing entire posts on a web page—I prefer to write and proofread somewhere else, then copy and paste the text into a new post. I don’t know why I’m bored with WordPress, but I am, and it’s time for a change.
I’ve been eyeing Substack for a while, and I’m drawn to the fact that it’s an all-in-one solution: stories, photos, short posts, podcasts, newsletters, and even potential monetization. You can start small and see where it goes. So that’s where I’m at.
I’ll move over some of my better-performing posts from WordPress, but for the most part, this is a fresh start. I have no idea where it’ll lead, but I’m looking forward to it.
If you’re into posts about photography, tech, rural living, the outdoors, or life in general, consider subscribing. I may explore paid subscriptions down the road, but for now, this is just a place for me to start writing again.
I say writing, but it’ll also be a place where I share photos and videos. So there’s that. I’ll try to keep things organized.
Onward and upward.
Side note: Substack reminds me of Posterous. Just a little.
