It took me a bit to get this one done. 2025 started out busy, but I finally have some time to crunch the numbers. I don’t think more than three people read these year in photos posts, but I like to have them for myself to look back on.
I skipped the 52 Portraits project in 2024. It was starting to feel more like a chore than a fun way to get out and shoot. I’m picking it back up in 2025, but making a Polaroid-only rule. I may regret that one, but I like a challenge.
2024 just wasn’t a big photography year. I didn’t do much camping, and my favorite model moved three hours away. I’m aiming to make 2025 better.
So, here we go–the moment all three of you have been waiting for–the (mediocre) stats…
Without the 52 Portraits project, or a steady model to work with, there weren’t a lot of picks or 5-star photos. The iPhone almost beat out the SLR for my most popular camera in 2024.
Sony A7RIII: 3301
Canon M6 MkII: 658
iPhone 14 Pro Max: 2793
So there you go. Slow year for real photography, but an ok year for iPhone snapshots.
