Announced today at WWDC, iOS 6 is bringing several new features to the iPhone and iPad.
Maps
Finally, turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic, and more.
Shared Photo Streams
Share photos directly to your friends’ devices. If they’re running iOS 6 or Mountain Lion, the shared photo will appear in the Photos app, or in iPhoto. Your friends can even comment on your shared photos.
Could this bring about a new option for clients to proof images after a shoot? If I share my selects with a client, they could review, and leave comments.
FaceTime
FaceTime will FINALLY work over cellular data networks. Skype and others have been doing it, so it’s about time FaceTime had that functionality, as well. I’ve been using FaceTime with my family more and more, so this is definitely a welcome addition.
Phone
I often get a call when I’m in the middle of something, and am unable to answer. With iOS 6, letting people know why I didn’t pick up is as simple as tapping a button. I can reply via a message, and even set myself a reminder to call them back. I have a feeling that the new Do Not Disturb feature will come in handy, as well.
More info on these features, and other cool updates can be found on Apple’s official iOS 6 page.
